After leading Chelsea to a top four spot, against all the odds, Blues boss Frank Lampard was recognised, by being nominated for the Manager of the Season award.

Many doubted Lampard’s credibility, coupled with the loss of Eden Hazard and a transfer ban, but the Chelsea legend used a very young squad, to shut the mouth of his critics, thus earning him a nomination.

Jurgen Klopp, Brendan Rodgers and Chris Wilder were also nominated for the award, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, was unarguably voted as the Manager of the Season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend John Barnes has said Chelsea boss Frank Lampard shouldn’t have been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Season award.

Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “Frank Lampard has done a decent job this season. A lot of pressure was on him, especially with the transfer ban, so I think he has done well.

“I don’t necessarily think he should be up there as manager of the season. There’s only one manager of the season and that is Jurgen Klopp.

“But that doesn’t mean I don’t think he has a done a good job over the past season.

“The way Lampard has conducted himself has been great, given a lot of the issues he had to deal with at the start of the season, including the transfer ban.”
