Frank Lampard’s first choice left-back signing is Ben Chilwell, and reports claim that the Blues are close to sealing a deal for the 23-year-old Englishman.

Also linked with the left-back position at Chelsea is Ajax fullback Nicolas Tagliafico.

The 27-year-old has starred for the Dutch giants and is a cheaper version of Ben Chilwell, although Chilwell is four years younger and is already used to the Premier League.

Interestingly, reputable reporter Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Leicester City will now go for Tagliafico as their replacement for Chilwell.

Meanwhile, Chelsea legend Ashley Cole has hailed Chilwell and will be glad to see him at Chelsea.

“I would love to see him at Chelsea,” Cole told talkSPORT back in December.

“He’s doing really, really well at Leicester.

“He’s enjoying the way Brendan plays and his system; he’s got that licence to attack.

“When he’s played for England he’s played well – in his last game he got three assists. He’s shown quality not just on the ball, but one-on-one he can defend and he likes to defend.

“I think he’s quality and I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan, too, so I would like to see him here.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.

No I don’t think Chelsea fans were negative on Chilwells football talent, it was the rediculos price Leicester wanted for. A LB, I will be glad to see him in a Chelsea shirt for the right price, Aussie Ray
