Liverpool won their first Premier League title, as the Reds raced to the title last season for the first time in 30 years.
Liverpool won the league with 99 points, and many expect them to be contenders again next season.
However, it won’t come easy as Liverpool have been given some tough fixtures to start the new season. Liverpool will start the season with a Community Shield game against Arsenal, before starting the league campaign with a game against Leeds United on September 12, before going away to Chelsea on September 19 and then hosting Arsenal on the 26th.
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has admitted that it will be a tough start to the season for Liverpool.
“We play Leeds at home first, then Chelsea away and Arsenal at home so tough fixtures! Liverpool midfielder Wijnaldum told the club’s official website after the fixture list was announced.
“But we’ll just have to get good results. ‘My first season when I came here it was also a tough start with three away games because the stadium was not ready so this is quite similar.
“We’ll just have to see how it’s going to look with supporters and all that but in the Premier League all kinds of games are really difficult, especially at the beginning because everyone is fresh.
“We just have to train good and try to play the games as good as possible and prepare ourselves for the season.”
