Former Arsenal striker and Germany international Lukas Podolski has warned Chelsea boss Frank Lampard that Kai Havertz may not have the ‘strength and power’ required to play in the Premier League.
The £90 million midfielder is a key transfer target for the Blues, with Lampard keen on building a team capable of challenging for the title next season.
Podolski said, according to The Sun: “He’s a great talent. On the ball he is so creative, but he’s still young — let’s see if he can fit into the Premier League.
“I think he is still missing some strength and power, but he should taste the drink of the Premier League and see if he likes it.
“I did, but I knew I would like it. I’m strong, I have a good shot, I’m from the street, I’m like a pitbull. I knew I could deal with the Premier League with the long balls, the physical side and the referees.”
Havertz, who can play up front, as an attacking midfielder or out wide scored 18 goals and provided nine assists in 45 appearances last season across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.
Chelsea should not make mistake of bringing attacker that’s not physically ok.Morata was good but not physically ok to meet the demands of premier league. So also Ahmed musa of leiscter city.
