After an era of triggering player wages in the early days of Roman Abramovich as Chelsea owner, the Blues board has now found a way to trim players’ wages and Chelsea have a decent enough wage bill.
FourFourTwo have released their annual ranking of the best-paid footballers. Their list was gotten from this year’s Forbes ranking of the 100 top earners in sport which includes 14 footballers, as earnings for the best-paid athletes dropped for the first time since 2016. this year’s edition shows three Manchester United players are on the 14 man list. One player from Liverpool, one from Arsenal, and former Chelsea midfielder, Oscar, makes the list, after a big money move to the Chinese Super League.
No Chelsea player made the list. N’Golo Kante has since been the club’s highest earner, with wages of £290k per week.
