Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has made a bold move ahead of next season, by appointing a new coach to join his coaching crew.

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of former first-team coach at Wigan, Anthony Barry as he joins Frank Lampard’s staff.

The 34-year-old is highly regarded among football professionals, and Blues boss Frank Lampard knew him from the coaching courses they did together.

Anthony Barry will now work with Jody Morris, Joe Edwards and Chris Jones.

“I’m delighted to welcome Anthony to the club,” Lampard said on the appointment of his new coach.

“He’s an exciting young coach and someone I’ve known for a while. I believe he will be a strong addition to the team.”

Reports claim Barry was in charge of defensive tactics at Wigan, and it’s believed that he’ll play a key role in helping Chelsea’s defensive tactics for next season.
