It’s been a season to learn and unlearn for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, as the Blues had a 2019-20 campaign of highs and lows.
Chelsea have already done two quick signings ahead of the new season, with the Blues completing deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, and Chelsea are also expected to sign up Kai Havertz before the summer transfer window ends.
Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has hailed the two signings Chelsea have made so far, but Rio insists that the main areas to be strengthened are the central defence and the goalkeeping area.
Ferdinand told BT Sport: “I think Frank’s done his work early, that’s good business [signing Werner and Ziyech].
“The players he’s brought in are players that can play and know the level at Champions League football. I think they’re an upgrade on some of the players he’s got.
“Definitely adds competition, but I think now he has to look at the other end of the pitch because that’s an area that when you want to win things, big trophies, which Frank will be wanting to do.
“That’s the demands of that club, the foundations in the centre-half area, goalkeeper have to be strong.”
