Chelsea had the worst defensive record in the top half of the table in the Premier League season, and the Blues conceded a whopping 54 goals.
Even in the Champions League, it wasn’t any better for the Blues, as Chelsea conceded 9 goals in the group stage and another three in the first leg round of 16 clash against Bayern Munich.
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has admitted that there’s work to be done in the team’s defending, and has backed the team to improve in this phase ahead of next season.
“It’s normal that people will criticise because we concede too many goals,” the 27-year-old said.
“It’s something that after this game we need to analyse, address things and try to improve.
“There will not be much of a holiday and then we have the Premier League again but it’s the same for everyone and we just need to adapt to it. We have time to improve things and that’s all we can do.”
