Paris Saint-Germain skipper Thiago Silva has been linked with a surprise move to Chelsea.

The Brazilian will turn 36 in September, but he has been eyed by Frank Lampard, as the Blues boss seeks to find a short-term solution for his poor defence, after the Chelsea defence conceded a shocking 54 goals in the Premier League alone.

Silva will be a free agent this summer, and reports claim that he’d make the decision on his new club this week.

The 35-year-old played his last game for PSG in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, and admitted after the loss that he’s set for a move to a new club.

“This was my last match at PSG. I am sad,” Silva told RMC Sport after the final whistle in Lisbon.

“I apologise to the supporters. I want to thank all the fans for their love.

“I will come back to PSG… I want to play for three or four more years and be at the World Cup in Qatar.”

Silva also denied links with Italian side Fiorentina, to further put fire to the claims that he’s set to join Chelsea.

In a further interview with Sky Sport Italia, when asked about links with Fiorentina, Silva replied:

“Now I have to look for a new team. Fiorentina? Reports of an agreement are not true. My agent is talking to them and other clubs but nothing is signed yet.

“Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I will have to look at the offers and make the best decision for me and my family.”
