Former Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has agreed a deal to join Chelsea. The Brazilian centre-back has agreed a 12 month contract with the option for a further year.
Silva joins Chelsea as a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at the French club.
According to RMC via Tribal Football, Silva’s contract with Chelsea will see the Brazilian take home an initial salary of €10m – plus various bonuses dependent on appearances and success.
After PSG’s 1-0 Champions League final defeat to Bayern over the weekend, Silva said: “It was my last game in Paris. I am sad. I apologise to the fans.
“I thank all the fans for their love. I will return to Paris and this club that I love in another role.
“I want to play three to four years still and be part of Brazil team in the Qatar World Cup.”
Silva spent seven years at PSG, winning 24 major trophies with the French giants in his time there.
