Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing a new left-back for next season.
Lampard indeed had a difficult time choosing a consistent left-back all season, as he often rotated between Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri and Blues right-back Cesar Azpilicueta.
Lampard wasn’t too impressed with the left-back options at his disposal and is now set to sign a new left-back ahead of next season.
Emerson will return to the Serie A, but reports have it that Marcos Alonso will remain at the club and fight for his shirt.
Sky Sports journalist Angelo Mangiante, has reported Alonso will not leave Chelsea this transfer window.
Alonso made 18 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season and was involved in 7 goals.
According to reports, Chelsea are closing in on Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell. Chilwell has a contract with the Foxes until 2024, and his transfer will indeed be a difficult one to pull through, with a Leicester City side that’s notorious when it comes to handling out massive transfer fees for their players.
