Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, assisted the club in signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, as the Blues beat Liverpool to the signing of the 24-year-old.
With Chelsea having signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, the Blues are also in need of a goalkeeper for next season, and Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.
New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech could play a pivotal role to bring Onana, if the club decides to push for a move.
Onana and Ziyech are best of friends, and the Cameroonian has shared a picture of Ziyech and himself having a video chat and commented: “Love seeing your ugly face!”
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has hailed the two signings Chelsea have made so far, but Rio insists that the main areas to be strengthened are the central defence and the goalkeeping area.
Ferdinand told BT Sport: “I think Frank’s done his work early, that’s good business [signing Werner and Ziyech].
“The players he’s brought in are players that can play and know the level at Champions League football. I think they’re an upgrade on some of the players he’s got.
“Definitely adds competition, but I think now he has to look at the other end of the pitch because that’s an area that when you want to win things, big trophies, which Frank will be wanting to do.
“That’s the demands of that club, the foundations in the centre-half area, goalkeeper have to be strong.”
