Michy Batshuayi bagged a brace for Belgium in their 5-1 win over Iceland.
Batshuayi scored after 17 minutes to give Belgium a 2-1 lead and popped up with a world-class backwards-flick finish in the 69th minute for his second of the game to make it 4-1.
Batshuayi looked sharp in that game, and as we reported yesterday, the 26 year old Belgium striker is set to join Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal having extended his Chelsea contract on Tuesday.
Speaking after the game against Iceland, Batshuayi confirmed that those reports were true, as he admitted that he’s keen to get regular playing time.
“Am I going to re-sign at Chelsea to be loaned to Crystal Palace? You’re on the right track when you say that. It’s something like that,” the 26-year-old told Belgian broadcaster RTBF.
“The most important thing for me is to have playing time for me and to be ready when I come to the national team.”
It would be the second time Batshuayi will be going on loan to Selhurst Park in three seasons. He impressed in his first loan there, having scored six goals in 13 appearances in the second half of the 2018/19 season.
