Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has had an upgrade on his jersey number for next season, as he will wear the No. 23 shirt for the 2020-21 season.
Gilmour wore the 47 shirt last season, in what was a Breakthrough campaign for him, and much is even expected from him this season.
Gilmour made 11 appearances in all competitions last season, as he impressed in the middle of the park. However, his progress was cut short by a serious knee injury in July, which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
Gilmour could even get more playing time this season, and is definitely pleased to have a higher ranked jersey number.
Batshuayi will be on loan to Crystal Palace this season, thus freeing up his jersey.
The free spirited Belgian striker didn’t have any issue with it, as he poked fun at Gilmour for taking his shirt,
Batshuayi wrote on Twitter: “Oh… I thought you were my guy @billygilmourrr 😂….. Love bro make me proud 💙.”
To which Gilmour replied: “You’re my bro always Michy 🙌 🤣.”
