Chelsea hero John Mikel Obi has impressed in every club he has featured for since leaving Chelsea in 2017.
The anchor midfielder impressed last season for Turkish side Trabzonspor, and many believe that his untimely exit from the club led to their title crash.
Mikel also impressed for Championship side Middlesbrough the previous year, and Stoke City fans are expecting more of the same from the midfield maestro ahead of the new season.
The Potters have struggled since they were relegated from the Premier League in 2018, and have finished the last two campaigns closer to the bottom of the league.
Stoke are keen to push for a return to the Premier League, and signed Mikel as a free agent to help realise their dream.
According to the Stoke Sentinel, the former Chelsea midfielder is making a good impression on fans of his new club, after a good performance in the 1-0 friendly win over Newcastle last weekend.
“He’s a player that plays in a crucial role,” said one Potters fan on the paper’s Facebook page.
Another said: “We have needed a ball winner that can pass a ball for a number of seasons. Class never leaves just a player’s pace, Mikel has never relied on pace so his age won’t be a problem.”
Another fan commented: “He’s been there and done it in the game and appears to want to be at the club as he turned down other offers.
Another said: “He is a winner a true professional he will do the job most players don’t like sit in front of the back four and cover everyone like Glen Whelan did.”
