Chelsea confirmed the signing of Edouard Mendy from Rennes on Thursday, as the Blues reportedly paid the sum of £22m to capture the 28-year-old goalkeeper.
Chelsea legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech masterminded the transfer, as Blues boss Frank Lampard, admitted he had to lean on the experience of Cech, for his choice of a goalkeeper signing.
Meanwhile, Cech who’s currently working as the the technical and risk advisor at the club, has also decided to wear back his gloves and help on the training pitch.
Photos of Cech helping out Mendy, has since gone viral.
Cech who also joined Chelsea from Rennes, has helped put Edouard Mendy through his paces during his first training session with the club.
Meanwhile, Lampard confirmed on Friday that this weekend’s clash against West Brom has come too soon for Mendy.
“He has had a long week when he has not really trained, he flew in yesterday and it feels too tight a turnaround to put him in contention to start the game,” said the Chelsea manager.
