Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has revealed she endorsed the signing of Edouard Mendy from Rennes after Petr Cech and our technical team identified Edouard as the most suitable goalkeeper for the Blues.
Kepa Arrizabalaga has struggled in goal for the Blues and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been keen on signing a new goalkeeper to provide competition.
On signing Mendy, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: “As soon as Petr Cech and our technical team identified Edouard as the most suitable goalkeeper to complement our existing group, there was only one player we wanted to bring in.
“Edouard arrives following a season of real success with Rennes, he is ambitious for more, and we welcome him to our club.”
Mendy joins Chelsea on a five year deal and could make his Chelsea debut on Saturday against West Brom.
