The Blues are set to announce the signing of Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy in the next few days after the Senegalese international flew into London on Friday.
According to reports, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Rennes to sign the 28 year old goalkeeper in a deal worth up to £25 million.
Following the agreement reached with Chelsea and Rennes for the transfer of the goalkeeper, Daily Mail claim Mendy was pulled out of training with his Rennes team-mates on Friday and held talks with his agent and club president Nicolas Holveck before setting off for London ahead of his medical.
Mendy will become Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer once details are finalised and will provide immediate competition for under-fire Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero.
Chelsea conceded 54 goals in 38 Premier League games last season and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is hoping the signing of Mendy will help improve Chelsea’s defensive record.
