Samuel Eto’o is regarded as one of the greatest players the continent of Africa has produced, and the Cameroon legend played alongside some of the greatest players of the game, as he shared a dressing room with the likes of Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.
In his latter years, Eto’o also featured for Chelsea, as he played for just one season for Chelsea under Jose Mourinho back in 2013.
Eto’o who played with Messi for five years and Hazard for just a year, has hailed the former Chelsea star to be on the same level with Messi when he’s at his best.
Eden Hazard “is on the same level as Messi”, Eto’o said when speaking at the presentation to make the start of the LaLiga season.
Hazard had a poor first season with the Los Blancos, as he scored just once and assisted six times in 22 Los Blancos appearances and struggled with injuries throughout the campaign.
Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes, is backing Hazard to be on fire next season and also believes that when he’s at his best, he’s on the same level as Messi.
He said: “The best Hazard, the best Rodrygo, the best [Marco] Asensio or the best Vinicius accompanied by the responsibility and experience of [Karim] Benzema is a good starting point.
“This year’s signing was already made last summer (Hazard) because he’s not exploded yet, but if he’s at his best level he’s alongside Messi.
“Players from the academy could be important in the medium or long-term, too.”
