Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is confident ahead of the new season, despite the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
Werner scored 34 goals in all competitions last season and is expected to be the number one striker at Chelsea this season.
Despite all the rave about Werner, Giroud is still sure of his place in the team and doesn’t seem to be looking for an exit to Juventus, who have been linked with him.
Giroud scored 8 goals in his last 12 games for Chelsea as he picked form in the second half of the season to lead Chelsea to a top four finish, and he’s confident that he can play alongside Werner.
“The coach can evolve,” Giroud told Telefoot. “It is not stuck in one tactical system. Werner brings us another string to our bow.
“He has different qualities to mine, so that makes me think that’s not such a bad thing. We could complement each other.
“I hope that I can continue the momentum I have had. I have high hopes for the future. We will see how it goes over the next few weeks. I’m impatient anyway.”
