Kai Havertz grabbed his first three goals for the Blues on his third appearance with the club in Chelsea’s 6-0 thrashing of Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
After Tammy Abraham opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Havertz found the net in the 28th minute before adding another two goals in the second half. Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud also scored in the rout.
Havertz’s hat-trick against Barnsley means the German international is now the second youngest Chelsea player to score a hat-trick. Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham was previously the second youngest Chelsea player to score a hat-trick.
Havertz scored his Chelsea hat-trick at the age of 21y 104d, beating Tammy Abraham’s record of 21y 347d.
Captain America Christian Pulisic remains the youngest Chelsea player to score a hat-trick at the age of 21y 38d.
