Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had complained before the game that he didn’t have ample time to train with all his players due to injuries, quarantine rule and international football.

In our first game of the season, Chelsea defeated Brighton 3-1, but it wasn’t an entirely good performance from the team.

Lampard explained after the game that his players were tired.

Speaking on his reason for subbing off Jorginho, Lampard said: “Jorginho is just tiredness. A lot of players are not fully fit at the moment and that is just the way it is.

“We’ve had a lot of quarantines at the club, players going away with internationals and we’re not fully fit at the moment. And that’s just the way it is.

“I thought they dealt with the rigours of the game very well today, in terms of how tough it is to come back when you’re not quite there. It was very pleasing to get the result we did.”

Lampard also revealed that Werner got a knock against Brighton, as he also revealed that Christian Pulisic is yet to be fit after suffering a knock in training.
