New goalkeeper signing Edouard Mendy made his Chelsea debut in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham.
The 28-year-old joined Chelsea from Rennes in a deal believed to be £22m, and was impressive on his debut, although he ended up on the losing side.
Speaking after the game, Lampard was full of praise for Mendy and was impressed in his goalkeeping skills.
“I thought he was very good,” said the boss.
“He made a couple of good saves, one particularly good. He caught a few balls and even the one when he came for it and didn’t catch, the idea that he wants to and wants to be positive is not a bad thing. I was very pleased with every part of his game really.”
Mendy did well in goal, but his penalty moves were far from impressive as he was unable to make any save to help his team.
