Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is reportedly in London to complete his Chelsea transfer after he was excused from Rennes training on Friday.
Mendy is set to challenge Kepa Arrizabalaga for a spot in the starting XI after Chelsea boss Frank Lampard lost faith in Kepa following his poor performances in goal for the Blues last season.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Friday: “Edouard Mendy will be in London in next few hours – the deal is 100 per cent done.”
It seems Chelsea’s summer spree won’t end with the signing of Mendy with Lampard still keen on signing Declan Rice from West Ham.
According to transfer expert Romano, Chelsea will turn attention to signing Declan Rice from West Ham after the Blues complete the signing of Mendy.
However, Romano insists Chelsea won’t match West Ham’s valuation of £75million for the midfielder.
