Chelsea were 1-0 up during the Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham, when Spurs defender Eric Dier bizarrely ran out of the pitch to the tunnel.
With Spurs trailing 1-0 late in the game, Dier sprinted off the pitch and down the tunnel for a toilet break as the ball went out of play.
Jose was livid and was seen chasing the midfielder into the dressing room. A few minutes later, Mourinho returned to the pitch with Dier. Chelsea didn’t take advantage of the opportunity, and missed a big chance that could have ended the game.
After the game, Mourinho explained the situation as he told Sky Sports: “He had to go [when he ran off] – he had no chance.
“Maybe it is a normal thing when you are completely dehydrated which is the case, I had to put pressure on him to get back but he is a great example for everybody.
“If the authorities don’t care about players, I care.
Explaining the situation, Dier also said: “Yeah, he [Mourinho] wasnt happy but there was nothing i could do about it, nature was calling.
“I heard there was a chance on the pitch but thankfully they didnt score and we ended up with the win.”
