Chelsea are set to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes, as the Blues have now reached agreement with the Ligue One side for their goalkeeper.
Mendy is expected to be Frank Lampard’s last signing of the summer transfer window, but reports claim that the Blues boss is still keen on signing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Rice was released by Chelsea at the age of 14, but the Blues have been eyeing up the young midfielder for some time now, as he has now transformed into one of the finest midfielders in the league.
Ahead of the start of the new campaign, Hammers boss David Moyes, has told reporters that Rice won’t be leaving the club this summer.
“It was always the plan that there was no intention to lose Declan Rice – we had no bids and no enquiries,” Moyes said in a press conference on Friday.
“I can only tell you what I know, and I wouldn’t have wanted to lose him anyway.
“He’s so important, a big part of the squad, has been captain already, and is learning a lot about leadership from Mark Noble.
“I’m hoping in the future we have an incredibly talented footballer with leadership skills and who is motivated to be captain of West Ham.”
