Arsenal legend and Daily Star Sport columnist Paul Merson was very disappointed with Kai Havertz display in his debut game against Brighton, and Merson believes Havertz has “got a lot to do” to prove his worth after his display against the Seagulls.

Many pundits have written off Havertz following his poor display in the opening game against Brighton, and Merson thinks Havertz didn’t look interested in the game against Brighton.

Paul Merson also didn’t enjoy Chelsea’s performance against Brighton, and he was particularly sorry for Ruben Loftus-Cheek who didn’t have a good game against Brighton as well.

Merson wrote in his column for the Daily Sport: “I didn’t think they were that great against Brighton. I’m gutted for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. He doesn’t look recovered from his injury and may not get another chance any time soon.

“And Kai Havertz has got a lot do. He didn’t play well. He didn’t even look interested at times. When he came off, he didn’t really seem to care. It was strange.”
