Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, as the Blues couldn’t get anything from the game against the reigning champions.

A red card to Andreas Christensen just before half-time made the game even more difficult for Chelsea, as Sadio Mane scored a brace in quick succession shortly after the restart.

See the player ratings for this game

Kepa: Made a massive error as he gifted Mane for his second goal. Made an earlier mistake which wasn’t punished, but his error costed his side today. Made a couple of decent saves; would have gotten a better rating if not for his error. 2/10

Reece James: Was solid at right-back until the goal. Really did well, but Chelsea were pinned to their half for much of the game. 6/10

Christensen: Was having a good game until a rush of blood forced him to foul Mane and earn a red card. 4/10

Zouma: Did okay in defence. Looked solid. 6/10

Alonso: Did okay to curb the threat of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but no attacking impact from his game. 5/10

Jorginho: Poor penalty as his trick didn’t work this time. Did okay in midfield until the red card to Andreas Christensen. 5/10

Kante: Was a workaholic for the Blues and was the best player for Chelsea in the middle of the park. Industrious display from the Frenchman. 6/10

Kovacic: Seemed confident on the ball at times, especially in the first half. But there was no cohesion between midfield and attack. 5/10

Mount: Worked really hard on the flank and had some flashes of brilliance. Looked isolated after the red card. 6/10

Kai Havertz: Didn’t look the part as Lampard started him as a false nine. Still yet to settle in the team. 4/10

Werner: Another bright display as he troubled Liverpool’s defence with his pace. Won a penalty which wasn’t converted by Jorginho. 7/10

Tomori: Looked really sharp and commanded his defence after he came on. Didn’t look like someone who has missed competitive action for a long time. 6/10

Barkley: Brought more to the midfield after coming on late in the game. 5/10

Tammy Abraham: Came on late but looked sharp nevertheless. Tested the goalkeeper with one good attempt. 6/10

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
