Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal worth up to £25million with Rennes for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants the Senegalese international to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga who struggled for form last season.
Mendy’s £25 million transfer fee means the Senegalese international goalkeeper will break a record previously held by Chelsea legend Petr Cech.
The £25 million transfer fee for Mendy will be a record for a goalkeeper moving from France to England. The previous record fee for a goalkeeper moving from France to England was the £12.3m Chelsea paid to Rennes in 2004 for Petr Cech.
Chelsea fans will be hoping Mendy have the same impact as Cech.
