RECORD BREAKER: Mendy breaks 16-year old record held by Chelsea legend Petr Cech

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal worth up to £25million with Rennes for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants the Senegalese international to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga who struggled for form last season.

Mendy’s £25 million transfer fee means the Senegalese international goalkeeper will break a record previously held by Chelsea legend Petr Cech.

The £25 million transfer fee for Mendy will be a record for a goalkeeper moving from France to England. The previous record fee for a goalkeeper moving from France to England was the £12.3m Chelsea paid to Rennes in 2004 for Petr Cech.

Chelsea fans will be hoping Mendy have the same impact as Cech.

  1. It’s a good development for Chelsea to have optional good keeper. We must not suffer like last season. Kepa needs challenge.

  2. Chelsea needs a solid goal keeper and a defender like Khalid kolubary from napoli
