According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar played a role in Thiago Silva’s free transfer move to Chelsea this summer.
According to The Telegraph via The Sun, Neymar urged team-mate Thiago Silva to leave PSG for Chelsea after the two held private talks this summer.
The report claims the pair discussed the move to Chelsea during PSG’S Champions League finals preparation.
The report went on to say that Neymar enthusiastically told Silva that he should make the move to Stamford Bridge.
Silva, 35, took heed of Neymar’s advice and went on to join Chelsea on a free this summer after eight years at Paris Saint-Germain.
Silva signed a one-year contract with Chelsea with an option for a further 12 months. He also took a paycut to complete the move to Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has previously revealed why he signed the 35 year old Brazilian defender.
Lampard said: “He brings great experience for us, he is still playing at a massively high level, as we saw in the Champions League final and games towards the final, so I expect him to come and bring that, bring his experience, leadership and his qualities.”
