Chelsea academy product Jeremie Boga has had a sensational time in the Serie A, after moving to Italian side Sassuolo in 2018.
Boga scored 11 league goals for Sassuolo in the 2019-20 campaign and attracted massive interest from Serie A sides Atalanta, Napoli and Roma and Premier League club Brighton.
Rennes are believed to be favourites for the former Chelsea player, and have now submitted a €20 million bid for the 23-year-old as they prepare for their first-ever appearance in the Champions League after finishing third in the league last season.
Rennes manager Julien Stephan recently expressed his admiration for the Blues academy product.
“I can’t speak about numbers. He is quite simply a player who is coming out of a very good spell with Sassuolo,” said Stephan.
“He has very interesting characteristics in terms of his penetration, his pace and his ability to finish off moves. We know him well at the club as he was on loan here a few seasons ago. At the time, I was in charge of the reserves, we got to know each other in certain instances, we know each other.
“He is a player who is one of our potential targets, there is enormous competition with very big clubs – we will see what happens in the coming weeks and months.”
