Rennes midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud has revealed Edouard Mendy was on the verge of crying after he was told he was leaving for Chelsea.
“Despite being a really strong man, he was on the verge of crying in the dressing room when he told us he was leaving,” Bourigeaud said, according to Get French Football News.
Mendy’s transfer to Chelsea was confirmed today with the goalkeeper signing a five year contract.
After signing his long-term contract with the Blues, Mendy said: “I am so excited to be joining Chelsea.
“It’s a dream for me to be a part of this exciting squad and to work with Frank Lampard and all of his coaching staff. I look forward to meeting my team-mates and can’t wait to get started.”
