Chelsea signed veteran defender Thiago Silva as a free agent this summer, upon the expiration of his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Silva, who will turn 36 next week, didn’t take part in the team’s opening game against Brighton, as he had been unable to train with his new teammates, having only joined camp recently.
Silva trained with the Chelsea team for the first time on Wednesday and was glad to train with the rest of the squad for the first time.
“So glad to share with you this amazing moment, my first training session at Cobham with Chelsea!” the centre-back wrote on Instagram.
Silva missed Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Brighton and the Premier League opener against the same opponents, and it’s unclear whether he’d start against Liverpool, having only resumed training recently.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard went for a centre-back pairing of Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma for the opening game, with Antonio Rudiger on the bench.
