Chelsea signed Thiago Silva on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, and the Brazil legend was brought in by Frank Lampard to bring stability to the team’s defence.
At 36, a player isn’t expected to sign up for a big club, but Silva has revealed how he prayed for a project that will match his ambition.
The experienced centre-back is glad to have joined Chelsea and has hailed the Blues as the best in England.
“In truth, when I knew that things were finished with PSG, I had always hoped for something great,” Thiago Silva told France Football.
“At the beginning, we were scared that my age would be a strain and that club representatives would have negative prejudices.
“It is very difficult to bounce back when you are past the age of 33 or 34. But I wanted to believe, I prayed to God to find me a project that matched my ambitions. God listened to me because Chelsea are the best in England.”
Thiago Silva made his Chelsea debut in the Carabao Cup game against and was impressive, but made a massive error in his Premier League debut against West Brom.
