Thiago Silva revealed before Chelsea’s 3-3 draw at West Brom that former Chelsea winger Willian encouraged him to join Chelsea.
Silva left Paris Saint-Germain after eight years at Ligue 1 side in which he won seven league titles, joining Chelsea on a free transfer.
He made his Chelsea debut in the 6-0 victory over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup before making his Premier League debut in the 3-3 against West Brom on Saturday.
Willian – who has made the switch across north London to rivals Arsenal – encouraged his international team-mate to join Lampard’s side.
“As soon as the Champions League was over I spoke to Willian,” Silva told BBC’s Football Focus.
“He spoke very highly of Chelsea to me, he said, ‘Go, you’ll be really happy, the people there are great’.”
