Jose Mourinho and Frank had a surprise touchline drama, as both managers were seen exchanging words during the keenly contested Carabao Cup fourth round game.
Mourinho was agitated on the touchline, as he seemed irritated with Lampard’s touchline antics, and mocked the Blues boss for being quiet when West Brom were 3-0 ahead of Chelsea in the first, during last weekend’s game.
Mourinho seemed to be telling Lampard that he was talking too much on the sidelines, and used the first-half of the West Brom game to mock his former player.
According to the Telegraph, Mourinho yelled: “F*g hell Frank, when you’re losing 3-0 you’re not standing up here.”
Both managers however played down the incident after the game.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Lampard said: “We were having some fun, I get on well with Jose. I was saying he speaks to the referee more than his players, I have huge respect for Jose.
“All was well at the end and that will never change.”
Mourinho who started the drama, hailed the Chelsea manager after the game.
He said: “We don’t need to be the protagonist of the touchline. When they were losing the last match 3-0 [against West Brom] I was sad for him because he was down & quiet. I don’t need to tell him anything because he is a fantastic coach.”
