Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek joined fellow west London club Fulham on loan on transfer deadline day.
Loftus-Cheek started Chelsea’s opening Premier League game at Brighton, but looked way below his best and hasn’t featured for the Blues since then.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played again since his poor opening day display, and it was agreed that he needed a loan exit from the club.
With Loftus-Cheek looking rusty after being out for a year, getting a loan deal for him wasn’t an easy one, coupled with his wages of £150, 000 per week.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are paying a bigger part of Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s wages, which is far from the club’s policy, as loan clubs usually finance wages of Chelsea’s loan army in previous years.
Meanwhile, former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has laughed off Loftus-Cheek’s wages, asking how many games he has played to earn such wages.
“They said a slight stumbling block for Fulham was his wages,” he said. “A slight stumbling block? £150,000-a-week!”
“How many games has he played at Chelsea? It’s scary, no wonder the game’s in a state.
“I would think that Chelsea would want them to pay half of it.”
