Chelsea travel to south Russia to face Krasnodar on Wednesday evening, and there are fears of coronavirus in this town.
Russia has been badly hit by the second wave of the pandemic with reports from some cities that bodies are piling up in morgues. Due to this development, German giants Bayern Munich opted against training in Russia when they faced Lokomotiv Moscow.
Bayern had to cancel their training session in Russia due to coronavirus fears, and didn’t train before the game.
However, Chelsea will train and hold a press conference in Russia this week despite coronavirus fears. The Blues have sent officials to the city to check the stadium and team hotel and have gotten a satisfactory feedback.
Frank Lampard will hold his press conference via Zoom – from the Krasnodar stadium. But Bayern opted against this, as they would rather do their final session and media interviews before facing Lokomotiv Moscow at their training base in Munich, according to Bild.
Bayern don’t seem to be taking any chances, as they only intend to stay in their hotel, play the game and fly home immediately after the game.
For Chelsea, the Blues took a chartered five-hour flight to Russia ahead of the game, and could hold a light training session before the match on Wednesday.
