The international break hasn’t gone well for Ben Chilwell, who has been made to leave the England camp before time.
Chilwell has not featured for the Three Lions this international window, and after missing the friendly game against Wales and Sunday’s UEFA Nations League victory over Belgium, he has now been forced to return to the Chelsea camp due to a foot injury.
Chilwell had missed England’s previous games due to illness, and will now miss their upcoming game due to the foot injury.
The England Football Association has announced the withdrawal from the England squad of Ben Chilwell.
According to Sky Sports, Chilwell’s foot injury is a pre-existing problem and the defender’s fitness now will be closely assessed by Chelsea ahead of an important few weeks for the west London club.
The official Chelsea website has confirmed that Chilwell will now return to Chelsea and an update on his fitness will be provided by Frank Lampard in his pre-match press conference from Cobham on Friday afternoon, ahead of Southampton clash.
Chilwell impressed in his first league start for Chelsea, with a goal and an assist as the Blues defeated Crystal Palace 4-0.
