When Chelsea boss Frank Lampard signed Thiago Silva, his original idea was for the Brazilian to not only help his defence but to also bring his leadership qualities to the team.
New Chelsea signing Ben Chilwell has rated the impact of 36-year-old Thiago Silva and has admitted that the veteran defender has lifted up the team.
“Ever since he came in the building, when he is in the room he has a presence about him,” Chilwell told the BBC.
“He makes everyone want to do well. Standards will never slip, he demands quality and he assures the whole.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was so full of praise for Chilwell after the game, as the 23-year-old got a goal and an assist to aid a Chelsea win.
“I thought Ben Chilwell was fantastic in his contribution in all senses. He gets his goal, he gets an assist and he was always ready to join in. He’s Premier League ready, we know that having played in this league as well as he has for Leicester and he looked like he’d played for us for a long time.
“I admired him before because of his ability to be so high up the pitch when you want him, not that he’s being reckless by being there. He just arrives, he’s got the capacity to get up and back, great quality on the ball, and he’s a great lad.”
