Arsenal legend Ian Wright has praised Didier Drogba for all he did during his time at the club. The Blues legend lasted eight years at the club in his first stint, and it was enough for him to be seen as a hero in the eyes of the Chelsea faithful all over the world.
Drogba played a huge role in helping Chelsea win four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the iconic Champions League, where he scored the equalising goal and also the winning penalty.
Ian Wright has hailed the former Chelsea striker and says that he literally did everything for the club.
“The thing with him [Drogba], I think he was in danger of people judging him for the antics, for going down too easy for a big man,” Wright said on the Wrighty’s House podcast.
“I thought that was a bit harsh simply because of what he did go through, he was right to go down.
“Yes, there were some times when he shouldn’t have. But in respect to the number nine, and the way he played that role on his own up there, just covering all the bases, literally doing everything.
“Scoring the goals, linking up the play, taking free-kicks, getting assists. He was the one, for me, that made people say, ‘that’s where we need to go, that’s how we’ve got to do it’.”
