Chelsea have made seven signings to the first team so far, with Malang Sarr the only one who won’t feature this term, after sealing a loan move away from the club.
Hakim Ziyech is the only new Chelsea player who hasn’t featured for the club this season, with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and even new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy all having made their Chelsea debuts.
After the opening three league games without a goal, Werner got his first of the season, with a stunning strike against Tottenham.
Former Barcelona and Tottenham striker Gary Lineker, was pleased with Werner’s effort and named him the sharpest signing in the team so far.
Gary Lineker singled out Werner for praise on Twitter, during the cup defeat, claiming he’s “looked the sharpest” of all the club’s new signings at the beginning of the season.
Chelsea eventually lost the cup tie to Tottenham, losing 5-4 in the penalty shootout. After the game, Werner sent a message to the fans, saying that the team will bounce back this weekend.
Reacting to the defeat on Instagram, Werner said: “We win and lose together… We will try to make it better on Saturday!”
