Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018, for a world record fee for a goalkeeper, for the sum of £72m.
It hasn’t really worked out well for Kepa since his world record move to Chelsea, especially under Frank Lampard.
Kepa was number one for Chelsea last season, but Lampard had to depend on Willy Caballero at times.
The Blues boss went on to sign a new goalkeeper during the summer, as Lampard signed Edouard Mendy from Rennes.
Mendy has been in good form since he signed up for Chelsea, and after another good performance in the Champions League game against Sevilla, Lampard has confirmed that Mendy is his number one goalkeeper.
“At the moment, yes. He’s shown his quality,” Lampard said of Mendy.
“The way he’s played, he’s played very well, that’s two clean sheets for him already.
“As it stands he is the number one but that’s always up for grabs. But the way he’s playing I’m very happy.”
