Frustrated Lampard reveals the state of the Chelsea dressing room after draw against Southampton

A stoppage time goal from Jannik Vestergaard killed Frank Lampard’s hopes of getting the three points against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea started the game the better of the two sides, as the Blues clearly dominated the half with some intrinsic play. However, a late first-half goal from Danny Ings was enough to change the context of the game.

It was a different game in the second half, as Frank Lampard’s side could no longer control the game.

Speaking after the game, Lampard admitted that he was frustrated at the final whistle, and his players were as well unhappy.

“I’m frustrated and the players are,” Lampard said after the game.

“They would be because the first half was as good as we’ve played this season. We played some great football, got two goals, could have had more.

“When you concede before half-time you know that changes the tone of the game a lot. And then we got 3-2 up and we concede again late on from a free-kick. It’s disappointing.

“You want to pick up the points at home against teams like Southampton, but you have to respect that they’re a very good team that can make it very difficult for you. And when they made it difficult in the second half we could have certainly dealt with it better.

“They were the better side in the second half and on the flip side we were much better in the first half, when I think we could have really put the game beyond Southampton with more goals, but we conceded late on which can happen.”

I understand that we paid 72k for Kepa, he has now made that many mistakes he should be 3 Rd choice, with Christensen last choice CB. Frank needs another defence coach because he can’t pick and arrange a descent defence, he is living on borrowed time, the players he shows so much loyalty to will get him sacked

  2. I don’t blame Kepa, Lampard should be blame because he has all the potential players in the club but he failed to get the appropriate line up and the same apply when he played against westbrome he totally lost the game though he made it to be draw but to me account as a lost! Lampard should know how his players coordinate not assuming who should start and the greatest mistake he has ever made was sending Barkley on loan that’s why he has got weak midfield now because Kante can make it well when is playing along side Barkley or Kovacic not Jorgino,Lampard has entrusted new player more than the usual one in the team am sorry for him. Things to do with defenders Jouma played well only pressure was much on him because of weak attackers and central midfielders, for now the only player am satisfied with is only Timowener among the new one the rest I don’t know what they’re doing at the club my advise is next time when is making line up he must be keen instead of assuming players
