Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will spend the rest of the season away on loan with Fulham.
Loftus-Cheek who had previously had a loan spell with Crystal Palace that helped him get back form two years ago, will now leave on another loan deal.
An Achilles injury suffered in May 2019 kept him out of action for a year, and he hasn’t been able to get back into his stride ever since.
After the game against Brighton where he was in the starting sheet, Loftus-Cheek’s performance was below par, and he hasn’t featured for the Blues again since then.
Loftus-Cheek will now spend the rest of the season on loan with Fulham as he aims to rediscover his best form.
Loftus-Cheek is seeking to regain his place in the England squad ahead of the Euros next summer.
It was difficult getting a loan deal for Loftus-Cheek because of his wages, and former Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has laughed off the player’s wages, asking how many games he has played to earn such wages.
“They said a slight stumbling block for Fulham was his wages,” he said. “A slight stumbling block? £150,000-a-week!”
“How many games has he played at Chelsea? It’s scary, no wonder the game’s in a state.
“I would think that Chelsea would want them to pay half of it.”
