Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud was in fine form for his national team team as he bagged a brace on his 100th international appearance for France, to move outright second in the all-time goalscoring charts for Les Bleus, only behind Thierry Henry.
France smashed Ukraine 7-1, and Giroud netted his 41st and 42nd goals for his nation as he marked his century appearance for the Les Bleus.
For his first on the night, Raphael Varane played in, after a brilliant run and cut back, only for Giroud to beautifully curl the ball into the net from outside the area.
His second goal was less glamorous than the first – as he capitalised on a goalkeeping error with a simple header to head home France third on the night, and he was also captain on the night.
Giroud is now nine goals away from meeting Henry’s record of 51 goals.
Meanwhile, Kai Havertz was also in fine form for Germany as he bagged two assists in Germany’s 3-3 draw with Turkey on just his eighth appearance for the national team.
