Before the game away against Krasnodar, former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin had revealed that he was expecting a tough win from Frank Lampard’s side, and admitted that the team’s performance might not even be pretty.
True to his words, the Russian side seemed to be a hard nut to crack, but Chelsea managed to get a good 4-0 victory.
Former Chelsea star Joe Cole was as well pleased with the performance, as he hailed the forwards for scoring and the defence for keeping a good clean sheet.
Speaking on BT Sport, former Blue Joe Cole said: “It was an impressive evening, a 4-0 away win with forwards scoring and another clean sheet.
“The two boys at the back [Kurt Zouma and the recalled Antonio Rudiger] grew into the game and looked stable, and Mendy made a couple of saves. It was a picture-perfect away performance in the Champions League.
“Frank Lampard couldn’t have written the script better.”
Chelsea are yet to concede in the Champions League this season, and currently top the group, although level on points with Sevilla who also defeated Rennes 1-0.
