Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante was forced to miss France’s Nations League clash against Croatia with a muscle injury.
According to L’Equipe, Kante trained normally on Tuesday but has been suffering with muscle discomfort which ruled him out of the game.
Since the start of last season, Kante has missed 22 games due to injury, with a 21-day absence due to muscle-related injury among them.
Kante is now a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League game against Southampton at Stamford Bridge after suffering an injury while on international duty with France, and Frank Lampard also has injury worries about Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy, with Hakim Ziyech set to make a return from injury.
Chilwell recovered from an illness but had to withdraw from England’s training camp earlier this week with a pre-existing foot injury.
For new goalkeeper Mendy, he picked up a thigh injury in training with the Senegalese national team, but is hopeful of being able to feature against Southampton.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will give update on the team when addressing the media this afternoon.
