Chelsea have collected seven points from their first four Premier League matches of the season, as pressure mount on the Chelsea manager to deliver.
Compared to last season, a lot of pressure is on the Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, to deliver silverware this season, having led Chelsea to a fourth place finish last term.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is known to have a thirsting for instant results, and Chelsea fans aren’t the most patient either.
It’s been three years since Chelsea last won the league, and with the massive amount spent on summer recruitment, there’s added pressure on Frank Lampard to deliver.
Speaking ahead of Southampton clash, Lampard had said that the expectations are welcomed and he has vowed to live up to them.
“I understand it because that’s football. With our process there will be time needed, but we want to work against that and get to where we want to be as quick as possible,” Lampard said.
“But we should have no problem with expectations. Why would you want to manage Chelsea or play for Chelsea without putting pressure on yourself to succeed or have expectations that come with that? It would be pointless to play for this club otherwise.
“I welcome expectations. We have to put them to the side, work hard and try to live up to them.”
