Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been urged to sell Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
Lampard was eager to sign the 21-year-old West Ham midfielder this summer, but his asking price was deemed a step too far for the Blues with West Ham demanding £80million for the midfielder.
According to Adrian Durham, Rice would be a big upgrade on Kante if Chelsea decided to sell the Frenchman because 29 year old Kante won’t be able to offer as much in the long run as Rice would be able to.
“They’ve been thinking about bringing in Declan Rice for a long, long time,” Durham told talkSPORT.
“If you sell Kante and bring in Rice, It’s a big upgrade.
“This is someone who can do Kante’s job, and go on the attack and use the ball quickly.
“Maybe not the Kante from yesteryear.
“What I’m looking at is a top side trying to do stuff in Europe and in the Premier League as well.
“Is Kante too limited? Rice does more than Kante – that’s what I’m saying.”
